This is an overview of the 14C databases presently included in the download version of CalPal. During setup of CalPal, these databases are installed in their primary "stand-on-alone" version in MS-Excel-format. You have access to these databases in the directory c:\calpal_a\database.
During CalPal-runtime, the data can then be selectively (SQL) imported through the ODBC-interface, by which procedure they are converted from XLS-format into CalPal-ASCII-format. You have access to these ASCII-files in the CalPal-Database-Cartography Dialog.
When site coordinates are available (see below: "Database Cartography=Yes"), the site-distributions can be mapped, also using the CalPal-Cartography dialog.
To add your own 14C-database set to the CalPal database dialog, you simply copy your file in xls-Format to the directory c:\calpal_a\database. You can then access the 14C-database in CalPal using the ->CARTOGRAPHY dialog via ->SELECT FILE. Please adhere to the xls-format as given in the accompanying datasets (the ODBC xls->ASCII import functions are sensitive to all deviations).
The complete set of variables presently covered by the 14Cdatabases in CalPal are:
